Sales receipt FAQ
What should a sales receipt include?
The store name, the date, itemized products with prices, subtotal, tax, total, the payment method, and your return policy. A receipt number helps with returns and bookkeeping.
What’s the difference between a sales receipt and an invoice?
A receipt proves a completed, paid transaction; an invoice is a request for payment before it’s paid. If money has changed hands, you want a receipt.
Do I need to show tax on a sales receipt?
If you collect sales tax, yes — showing the tax line separately is expected and often required. Set your rate in the generator and it calculates automatically.
