Painter invoice FAQ

What should a painting invoice include?

Business name, customer and job address, a description of the areas painted, labor and prep, paint and supplies, any deposit already paid, tax, and the balance due. Note the paint brand/finish if the customer chose it.

How do painters usually charge — by room, hour, or square foot?

All three are common: flat per-room or per-project for residential, per square foot for large walls, hourly for prep and repairs. You can mix them as separate line items in the generator.

How do I show a deposit on a painting invoice?

Bill the full amount, then subtract the deposit so the invoice shows the remaining balance. Add the deposit as a note or use a discount line for the amount already paid.
